Helen O'Donoghue is a multidisciplinery artist, mostly working with sound, sculpture, and moving image. Currently residing in London and studying Fine Art Sculpture at University of Brighton.
The foundation of her practice is in the generation of raw material by carrying video and sound recording equipment in her daily life. The raw material is manipulated using computer software then transmogrified in to sculptures and moving images that simulate her virtual experiences of the physical world. Recently she has been using Performance to shorten this process by generating and mixing sounds, to live audiences.
O'Donoghue makes dystopian, post apocalyptic works of science fiction, showing the past as domestic and abandoned, and the future as dark and foreboding. She is interested in how we quantify and qualify existence, by creating and using bodies, and by playing with the boundaries of the animate and inanimate.
