Ongoing experimental project
Amplifiers, tactile transducers, industrial extraction machine

Audio track (20 mins, looped)

Two amplifiers were installed in the extractor below the University of Brighton sculpture workshop.  One was a speaker amp and was placed in the extractor.  The other amp had low frequency tactile transducers which were attached to the main pipe running up through the building in to the workshop.   The audio track was a recording of breathing that was distorted by the material properties and shape of the pipes it travelled through.  The audio was set to just below 85dB so that the Sound Ear device (pictured right) was set off with the sound of each breath.  The audio could be heard and felt (vibrating) through the various extraction pipes attached to the workshop machines.  Currently looking for further sites to perform similar experiments.
